Our conference also includes a trade show and presents an opportunity to display services and/or products offered by your organization. CDEA members are offered a reduced registration fee for space at the trade show and for overall conference registration.

Engaging Policy Makers

The association also develops dialogue with government for policy changes that promote or encourage district energy in Canada and the provinces. One example is our initiative to have district energy assets eligible for Class 43 Accelerated Capital Cost Allowance tax status. Such a measure would significantly improve the economic viability of district energy investment in Canada. Our efforts have increased the awareness of the benefits of district energy in Canada at senior levels of the federal Department of Finance, Environment Canada, and the Prime Minister’s Office. The Department of Finance is now working on the inclusion of district energy distribution piping into an accelerated capital cost allowance.
